Climate Change and Water

IPCC-WMO Report on Climate Change and Water

I have just discovered that the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has a report titled Climate Change and Water which deals specifically with the effects of climate change on freshwater supplies across the globe and their socio-economic impacts. It comes with a disclaimert that the report has gone through expert and government review but has not yet been considered by the Panel for acceptance or approval. I have just started going through the report and came across this interesting world map which shows the water stress in different regions of the world (click on image for high-resolution version) :

It shows “very high stress” in most of Asia including India in its entireity, most of the Middle East, a large section of north-east China and many ex-USSR countries like Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
